MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Brad Stevens will celebrate his first NBA coaching victory when it counts. Stevens was content to focus on the improvement the Boston Celtics made from one night to the next in a 111-81 preseason victory over the New York Knicks on Saturday night. Boston was winless in its first three exhibition games under Stevens, who was hired away from Butler to take over the storied franchise at the age of 36. "If Im not going to count those last three, I cant count this one I guess," Stevens joked. The Celtics scored at least 24 points in every quarter, shot 54 per cent and -- most importantly -- looked little like the team that lost to Philadelphia 97-85 the night before. "We got the ball up the floor. We played with good pace. I just thought we didnt labour as much offensively as we did yesterday," Stevens said. The Celtics capitalized on a short-handed version of the Knicks, who were playing their third game in four nights and rested Carmelo Anthony and most of his veteran teammates. Rookie Kelly Olynyk had 15 points and six rebounds for the Celtics, who scored the first 10 points and never trailed. Boston started the third quarter with a 20-5 run against a JV version of the Knicks, who also played the night before. "I know its a back-to-back and Im playing young players, but again youve got to be proud to wear a Knick uniform and tonight was an embarrassment," coach Mike Woodson said. "Whoever we put out there, we should be able to compete." New York also rested starters Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler as well as Metta World Peace and Beno Udrih. Kenyon Martin also sat out and has yet to play this preseason. Ike Diogu led the Knicks (1-2) with 21 points and eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end. Toure Murry added 16 points and Andrea Bargnani scored 11. Olynyk, a 7-footer from Gonzaga drafted by the Celtics with the 13th overall pick, also had six rebounds, three steals and a block as the Celtics won a "home" game played about 50 miles north of Boston. The Celtics outrebounded New York 45-34. "I think it eased Coach Stevens nerves a little bit. I know hes not used to losing," said Jared Sullinger, who scored 12 for Boston. "We have a blueprint now. Youve got to follow the blueprint to success and understand that the way we played today should be the way we play all the time." Avery Bradley and Jordan Crawford scored 13 apiece for Boston. MarShon Brooks scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half as the Celtics let their younger players finish off the rout. Nike Sneakers Clearance Sale . Then Klay Thompson put his foot on the gas. High school hockey is big there. They were great fans. What was your North Stars experience like?I got traded there from L.A. and they just went to the finals the year before against Pittsburgh, so I was coming into a team that was kind of the same. I was just trying to find my role it was great because they had a lot of great players there. What were some of your best experiences playing there?Getting to play on a line for quite a bit with Mike Modano. Played with some great players in Dave Gagner and Ulf Dahlen. What was it like to play with Modano when he was entering his prime? It was fun. I mean just watching him fly. To be a teammate of his was great because he was such a great player and great guy. I also got to play with a great scorer in Brian Bellows. What did you think when the team moved to Dallas?I felt sorry for the city and for the fans because they wanted and expected the team to stay. You could actually feel it, you could sense that they were going to move because of the rumblings and rumors and the way things were going. The fans werent coming as much and you could just sense it.Do you think it was bizarre that a crazy hockey market like Minnesota had trouble drawing in fans?It was strange. High school and college hockey was so big and now with the Wild in the NHL. I have no answer, it was weird. The Met was a great stadium and it probably had the best ice. What do you think playing with the North Stars taught you for the rest of your career?Be good defensively because [coach] Bob [Gainey] wanted that. He made me a good all around player and defensively sound. He let me use my creativity and I took advantage of that.Previous #TBTsAtlanta ThrashersHartford WhalersCalifornia Golden SealsColorado RockiesQuebec Nordiques Wholesale HoodiesNFL Shirts OutletJerseys NFL WholesaleCheap NFL Jerseys Free ShippingWholesale Jerseys CheapCheap NFL Jerseys ChinaWholesale JerseysWholesale NFL JerseysCheap NFL Jerseys ChinaCheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
