n?the two-week time frame designated when he went on the DL.Avila, who said the team has made numerous waiver wire
With eight games on the schedule for Friday night, the daily fantasy basketball slate offers just enough star power to make picking a lineup tricky. Our experts (Al Zeidenfeld, Joe Kaiser and Renee Miller) provide their picks and fades to get you ready for the night across the Association.Building blockAl Zeidenfeld -- Chris Paul, LA ClippersThe Clippers and Chris Paul have been absolutely dominant early on in the season, so much so that the blowouts have kept his fantasy numbers down just a bit. Tonights contest in Oklahoma City should be more closely contested and therefore keep CP3 generating fantasy points well into the fourth quarter. Building balanced lineups has proven profitable early on in the season on DraftKings, and Paul is a superstar with a great chance of scoring 45 or more fantasy points at only $8,900 tonight.Joe Kaiser -- Carmelo Anthony, New York KnicksBoston cant stop anybody right now as they play without Al Horford and Jae Crowder and the stats tell the story. Not only are the Celtics the worst defense in the league entering Friday, they are 3.3 points worse per 100 possessions than the next worst team (Orlando). On a night with LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and several other strong small forward options, Anthony is the one Im focusing on as great value in the $7,000s on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Remember, Otto Porter Jr. lit up these Celtics on Wednesday for 34 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Look for Anthony to fly past his salary value tonight.Renee Miller -- Blake Griffin, LA Clippers Griffin tends to get a bad rep in fantasy and basketball circles for a number of reasons, but he has hit the ground running this year. Hes scored double-digit points in every game so far, with six double-doubles in the Clippers eight games played this season (averaging 19/10). He didnt have a great game when these teams met last week, shooting just 33 percent, but Im not holding one game against him. The Western Conference rivalries make for great basketball -- high scoring and competitive -- and the Clippers are looking like the team to beat right now. Griffins strong play is a big reason for that. He fits well into cash game or tournament lineups on either site, but is a slightly better value at FanDuel.FadeAl Zeidenfeld -- Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio SpursThis isnt about Leonards talent or his fantasy value, its more about roster construction. I dont think I can afford to pay up to get Kawhi into my head-to-head lineups tonight because of how many guards I will be spending on. Because of those guards, I will have to find at least a little value at the forward spots. Even saving $1,500-$2,000 at the position will be massive, and I just dont see a path to playing Kawhi even though hes been someone I jammed into more lineups than any other player over the course of the first two weeks of the season.Joe Kaiser -- Otto Porter Jr., Washington WizardsRecency bias is going to inflate Porters ownership numbers on Friday just two days after the best game of his life. But as I mentioned above, that game came against the worst defense in the league, and things get much tougher tonight against Cleveland. Not only are the Cavs ranked 13th in defensive efficiency, they also have a chance to blow past a 2-5 Wizards team that was struggling mightily before the win over the Celtics. If this turns into a blowout, theres a good chance Porter wont reach his season average of 34.9 minutes. Im looking elsewhere tonight at small forward.Renee Miller -- Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers Ive tried to get behind Irving a few times this season and he has fallen short of where Id like to see him given his salary (upper 40s in fantasy points), even in the best of matchups. Tonight hell have his hands full with John Wall and the Wizards, who have been fairly stingy vs. opposing point guards. Irvings assist and rebounding numbers are so low that if he doesnt score 30 points, hes not meeting value. Ill take one of the top three tonight at PG, instead.Al Zeidenfeld is a promoter & user at DraftKings (Username: Al_Smizzle) and plays on his personal account in games he offers advice on. Warriors Jerseys China . Brett Kulak and Jackson Houck of the Vancouver Giants were each charged with assault causing bodily harm on Aug. 18, according to the B.C. court services.DETROIT -- With injuries continuing to pile up, the Detroit Tigers acquired infielder Erick Aybar from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for Mike Aviles and minor league catcher Kade Scivicque. The team announced the deal prior to Tuesdays 6-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park. The 32-year-old Aybar hit .242 with 27 runs and 26 RBIs in 97 games for the Braves this season. He is just two years removed from an All-Star appearance and won a Gold Glove at shortstop with the?Los Angeles Angels?in 2011.Now with all the injuries that weve had and talking it over with the staff, we felt we needed to upgrade our bench, Tigers general manager Al Avila said.Hes always been kind of a dynamic player, had the ability to hit, hit and run, bunt, hit from both sides of the plate, manager Brad Ausmus said. Hell probably see time from all the infield positions ... well kind of use him as an infield utility player.Avila also praised Aybars usefulness. The main reason for this is to upgrade our utility position. We feel that Aybar could give us a little more offense from that position. Hes a switch-hitter. He can play third, he can play short, he can play second. Really, if we needed him to, in a pinch, if we had to and I hope we dont, we could throw him into the outfield. But right now, he gives us an experienced, veteran-type player that we feel will give us a little bit better offense than, lets say, Aviles, at this point, and the same versatility.Thouugh Aybar, according to Avila, is supposed to represent an offensive upgrade, he actually ranks last among all qualified hitters in wRC+ (adjusted weighted runs created), according to Fangraphs.ddddddddddddcom. Aybar also has a career-high 16 percent strikeout rate this season compared to 10.5 percent from 2012 to 15, according to ESPN Stats & Information.?Aybar will be available for Wednesdays series finale vs. Kansas City, according to Avila. The Tigers will have to make a corresponding roster move.?Although Aybars natural position is shortstop, Avila said the team still expects shortstop?Jose Iglesias?to return within?the two-week time frame designated when he went on the DL.Avila, who said the team has made numerous waiver wire claims recently, said the team has not ruled out any additional moves, though at this point, the chances appear slim. The Tigers are currently without position players Nick Castellanos (hand), Cameron Maybin (thumb) and Iglesias?(thumb), and pitchers Jordan Zimmermann (neck) and Mike Pelfrey (back), all of whom are on the disabled list.Miguel Cabrera sat out Tuesdays game because of a left biceps strain, though the team is not anticipating that he will miss more than two or three days.Outfielder Steven Moya was recalled by the Tigers and was available for Tuesdays game but did not play.
