PHOENIX -- Former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper has been indicted in Arizona on charges of sexual assault and administering dangerous drugs, authorities said Wednesday, marking the latest development in investigations in five states involving the Super Bowl champion. A Maricopa County grand jury indicted Sharper in sexual assaults allegedly committed on Nov. 21 in Tempe. The four-page indictment dated Tuesday accuses the 38-year-old Sharper of two counts of sexual assault and three counts of administering dangerous drugs. Sharper knowingly administered the sedative zolpidem to three different victims and then had "sexual intercourse or oral sexual contact" with two of them without their consent, the document states. Sharper is currently in custody in Los Angeles, where he has pleaded not guilty to seven rape and drug counts in connection with two alleged attacks in Hollywood. He had been freed on $1 million bail before turning himself in when an arrest warrant was issued in New Orleans. In Arizona, police reports released earlier say two women in their early 20s had claimed Sharper drugged and sexually assaulted them at a Tempe apartment after a group including Sharper went drinking at bars in nearby Scottsdale. One of the women told police she hadnt had any alcohol that night until Sharper insisted she drink a shot. Another young woman said she had been drugged then went to bed, locked her door and wasnt attacked. The next day, one of the women confronted Sharper, who denied wrongdoing, according to the reports. The reports said Sharper was in Arizona to visit a woman who lived at the apartment. The two had met about a year earlier in Las Vegas. Skip Donau, a Tucson attorney who represents Sharper in the Arizona case, declined to discuss specifics. "We know that Darren will vigorously deny the allegations," Donau said. "We are hopeful of vindication." In Los Angeles, Superior Court Judge Renee Korn said last week that it was unfair to hold Sharper in jail there "into perpetuity" and gave prosecutors in Louisiana until Thursday to charge him or otherwise seek his return. Prosecutors in New Orleans said Wednesday that Sharper would not be indicted by that deadline and the investigation remained open. It could not be immediately determined if Arizona authorities would ask that Sharper be held longer in Los Angeles or would seek his extradition. Jerry Cobb, a spokesman for the Maricopa County Attorneys Office, declined to comment. Sharper is also under investigation in Florida and Nevada. In a bail motion filed last month, Los Angeles County Investigator John Maccharella described a pattern in which the former football star met women at clubs or parties and lured them to a hotel room, where they were allegedly drugged and raped. The New Orleans warrant says police learned from witnesses that Sharper and an associate had acknowledged having nonconsensual sex with two women. Sharpers attorneys say he never made such statements. The warrant does not elaborate on how the information was obtained or disclose the names of the witnesses. Sharper was selected All-Pro six times and chosen for the Pro Bowl five times. He played in two Super Bowls, one with the Green Bay Packers as a rookie and was part of a successful championship run while with the New Orleans Saints. He retired after the 2010 season and was working as an analyst for the NFL Network before being fired recently. Cyber Monday Hockey Jerseys . Authentic Hockey Jerseys . LOUIS -- The St. Custom Hockey Jerseys . JOHNS, N.ALAMEDA, Calif. - For years Sebastian Janikowski has been the saving grace whenever the Oakland Raiders offence stalled. The veteran kicker repeatedly bailed the team out with his powerful leg, setting numerous franchise records along the way.Hes about to establish another team record — though its clearly one hed rather do without. With two games left before the Raiders (2-12) put the wraps on another disappointing season, Janikowski is on pace to have the fewest field goal attempts over a 16-game season in franchise history. Its not that the coaching staff has lost faith in the former first-round draft pick.In one of those rare statistical oddities, Oakland is last in the league in total offence and 31st in points yet owns the NFLs top red zone offence. The Raiders are scoring touchdowns from inside the opponents 20-yard line at a 75 per cent clip, essentially eliminating the need for the field goal unit. Its frustrating more than anything because you want to be out there trying to help the team win some games, Janikowski said. I never think about how many field goals I kick, I just want to win. I knew it was low.Janikowski has never attempted fewer than 25 field goals in any season since entering the NFL as the 17th overall pick in 2000. At his current rate, hell finish with 19 this year.Thats one fewer than the current team record of 20, shared by Errol Mann (1978) and Jeff Jaeger (1990).The upside is that despite the few opportunities hes had, the 36-year-old Janikowski has quietly rebounded nicely from one of the worst seasons of his career. Hes converted 15 of 17 atttempts and is one of 10 kickers in the league with a success rate of 88 per cent or better this year.dddddddddddd.Still, Janikowskis overall numbers have suffered because of Oaklands success in the red zone. The Raiders have scored touchdowns on 18 of 22 trips inside the 20.Though he will finish as the teams leading scorer for a 15th consecutive year, Janikowski has gone four games without a single field goal attempt — the longest streak of Janikowskis career when healthy.Weve just been efficient down there in scoring touchdowns, Raiders interim coach Tony Sparano said Friday. Its been a scenario where we havent had to kick field goals, which is a good thing. But when we need one hes there and I know that we can count on him.Janikowski wasnt even aware of his low numbers until being told by a reporter. He pondered the thought briefly, shrugged his shoulders and smiled. When youre into the game, you always kick three, four field goals a game, Janikowski said. Now Im averaging one a game or whatever that is.Oakland hosts Buffalo on Sunday, and Janikowski is 6-for-6 in field goal attempts against the Bills.Notes: CB Tarell Brown (foot), WR Vincent Brown (groin), CB Chimdi Chekwa (hamstring), TE Brian Leonhardt (concussion), WR Denarius Moore (knee/ankle) and RT Menelik Watson (foot/ankle) did not practice and will not play against the Bills. ... CB DJ Hayden (back) was limited and is questionable. ... CB TJ Carrie, who is probable with a sore ankle, is expected to start in place of Brown.___Online: AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '
